Stephen Beverley qualified in 1985 in Leeds but soon after moved to London where he has been a partner and Consultant in West End firms for 24 years.
He specialises in advising companies - many of which are owner managed - and individuals in the areas of Employment Law and Commercial Litigation / Dispute Resolution priding himself in understanding his clients' needs.
In the area of Employment Law Stephen practices both in contentious matters including those before the Employment Tribunal, Employment Appeal Tribunal and the Court of Appeal with a particular expertise in obtaining and defending injunctions relating to restrictive covenants. In the non-contentious field, Stephen negotiates and drafts a range of employment contracts, service agreements and company handbooks / procedures.
In Commercial Litigation Stephen has acted in a wide number of disputes for both claimants and defendants in the High Court, Chancery Division and Court of Appeal. He utilises his abilities in negotiating settlements and devising tactics with a view to obtaining the most cost effective remedy for clients. He is experienced in both arbitration and mediation.
Stephen also has a specialisation in Sports Law particularly in the area of professional boxing where he advises fighters, promoters and managers and also has recently been appointed as the Chairman of the Appeal and Disciplinary Committee of the World Boxing Council - the largest and most prestigious sanctioning body in the world. Stephen is also the Honorary Solicitor to the Schools Amateur Boxing Association.
He has particular wide experience in advising both companies and individuals in the Media, including those in the music industry, advertising, public relations, publishing - both paper and on-line - and in digital media. He has acted for clients in cases as diverse as copyright disputes to injunctions and has represented celebrities and sports people in libel actions against the national press.
